KEMU launches PG program in laparoscopic surgery

King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Tuesday launched the postgraduate program in laparoscopic surgery, as top-notch Bariatric surgeons visited the university, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A team of renowned international bariatric surgeons led by the Director of Bariatric and Laparoscopic Surgery (Sharjah) Professor Laurent Liani visited KEMU.
Other members of the team included Prof. Hamad Naeem Rana, Prof Imran Abbas and Prof Maaz Ul Hassan.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss modern therapies in Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. The guests were briefed about the 162 years of medical services in the medical department of the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal along with Chairman Prof Asghar Naqi, Chairperson Medicine Prof Balqis Shabbir, Dean Public Health Prof Saira Afzal, Prof of Surgery Prof Abrar Ashraf and Registrar KEMU Dr Riyast Ali hosted the guests at the University's Department of Medicine.
They informed the guests about annual medical services. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson, Department of Medicine and in-charge, Telemedicine Department informed about the services of the Telemedicine Department during the outbreak of the epidemic and the beginning of this department.
Meanwhile, Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali briefed the guests about the performance of the Medical Education Department of the University.
Prof. Laurent Liani will play his role in the training and development of bariatric surgery for trainee doctors in this new speciality.
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Chairman, Department of Surgery, President of the Society, announced the launch of the Certificate in Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) program at the suggestion of Surgeons Pakistan (Lahore).
Experts from home and abroad were included in the consultation. In the end, souvenirs were presented to the guests.
