Several arrested in anti-encroachment operation in Karachi

Ten people were arrested when the administration backed by police and protesters clashed after when the former started removing encroachments during a clean-up operation in the Allahdin area of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Reportedly, the local administration on Tuesday brought heavy machinery to crush down and remove the encroachments. But the protesters came in front of the machinery and obstructed their action.
In the meantime, police intervened and resorted to baton charge and arrested 10 protesters. During the clash, a policeman became unconscious who was rushed to a hospital.
The administration has started an anti-encroachment drive in Plot No 14, Block No 15 in Federal B Area on the orders of the Supreme Court. The administration is bringing down houses and shops built on the welfare plot of Federal B Area.
Director Central Kamran Alvi, Deputy Director Masroor, assistant commissioner of area police, city warden and anti-encroachment staff were taking part in the anti-encroachment operation.
