Journalist Imran Riaz has been discharged from the case involving the breach of security barriers at Lahore Airport, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Friday.
According to the channel, Lahore police presented the accused journalist Imran Riaz Khan before the Judicial Magistrate Hafiz Kashif Liaqat of Lahore District Court of Cantt.
The Judicial Magistrate after hearing the arguments of the police and the defence lawyer rejected the police request for the physical remand of the accused and ordered to release him.
During the hearing, the police informed the court that Imran Riaz was accused of driving his vehicle over ASF personnel and breaking security barriers at Lahore Airport. A case had been registered against him at Sarwar Road Police Station Lahore.
Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, representing Imran Riaz, completed his arguments, stating that the accused had been falsely implicated in the case for political purposes. He highlighted that Imran Riaz is a well-known journalist and had been discharged from a false case in Model Town Court just a day earlier. Following this discharge, he was arrested in a new case which is also a false case so he should be discharged from the case.
