Cabinet nods to raising electricity prices by Rs1.68 per unit

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government has dropped yet another bombshell on the masses already struggling to come to terms with record inflation as the federal cabinet on Friday approved an increase in the electricity prices by Rs1.68 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the cabinet had approved the hike in the power rates by moving a circulation summary.
The Ministry of Energy had sent the summary for the increase in the electricity tariff to the cabinet.
The hike in electricity prices has almost become a routine now.
Moreover, the cabinet’s decision has come at a time when the entire country is in the grip of worst inflation, with petrol prices standing at Rs127 per liter, and to make matters worse these are expected to go up further.
