Court acquits another 16 TLP workers

Anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Thursday acquitted 16 activists of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in a case registered against them on terrorism charges for creating disturbances and damaging state properties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Judge Ijaz Ahmad Butar of the Anti-Terrorism Court while announcing the verdict, remarked that prosecution has failed to prove charges against the TLP workers.
TLP lawyer Saleem Khokhar and Asri Chaudhry Advocate represented TLP workers and put forward the arguments in the case.
A case was registered against the TLP workers in Shahdara police station in 2021 on account of vandalism and damage to government property.
According to details, those who were released included Faiz Ahmed, Ehsan Zafar Bajwa, Zeeshan Zafar Bajwa, Muhammad Irfan, Danish Ahmed, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Imran and Haroon Bhatti.
After the pronouncement of verdict, sweets were distributed by TLP workers in the court premises.
It may be mentioned here over a dozen TLP workers were also acquitted a couple of days ago.
