80 houses destroyed in massive fire in Chilas

As many as 80 houses were completely destroyed in a massive fire which engulfed Niyat Maducas area in Chilas city of Gilgit Baltistan on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources said that residents of the area tried to control the fire on self-help basis as there was neither any communication system nor any road for transportation of necessary items in the area.

However, the victims were still waiting for any assistance under the open sky.

Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan has already taken notice of the fire incident and directed Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Diamir to submit a report after a thorough investigation into the horrible incident.

He further directed relevant authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the affected people.
