The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has failed to finalize the name of its candidate for the slot of Azad Kashmir prime minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The PTI, AJK chapter, held hours-long meetings and tried hard to agree on the name of its candidate for the premiership but the agreement could not be reached and differences stayed within the party.

The forward bloc in the PTI claimed to have settled down its matters with the opposition.

Barrister Sultan Mehmood Group suggested the names of Chaudhry Ikhlaq and Chaudhry Rashid for the office of prime ministership.

If the Barrister group gets support of the Opposition, then its candidate will be able to bag 26 votes.

The number of PTI members in the AJK Legislative Assembly is 26.

If some party succeeds in enlisting support of just one voter, he could form government.

The vote of former prime minister and the AJK Assembly member of Muslim Conference Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan has got importance.

The candidate who will achieve 27 votes out of 52-member strong AJK Legislative Assembly will be able to become the AJK prime minister.

The candidate who gets backing of the six members of the Barrister Sultan group will become the Leader of the House.

The treasury members are being watched strictly for the fear lest they should join the ranks of the opposition.

From opposition side, Chaudhry Yaseen, Chaudhry Latif Akbar and Faisal Mumtaz Rathore are included in the race of PM election.

The Leader of the House could not be elected earlier as the house had been adjourned for the last two days.

According to the Article 17, and Rule No 16 of the Assembly Procedure, the election of prime minister should be held immediately.

The assembly session was called at 2pm today but the session has not yet started till filing of this report.
