Cabbie arrested for harassing American woman in Karachi

A taxi driver who harassed an American-origin woman at gunpoint earlier this month has been arrested in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to police, accused Zain Rauf had misbehaved with the American woman in the Super Highway Private Housing Society on April 10.

The text of the case revealed that an attempt was made to harass the woman by taking her to a deserted place.

On the complaint of the victim, the police registered a case of the incident at Gadap City police station on April 13.

Police said that with the help of the CCTV footage of the housing society, accused Zain Rauf has been arrested and the vehicle and weapons used in the criminal act have been recovered.

Accused Zain used to accept rides from women travelling alone and then tried to harass them them, sources in police said.

The accused had affixed a fake number-plate on his vehicle, the police said.

The investigation team got physical remand of the accused for two days from the concerned court, the police said.
