ECP demands AGP to pay Extra Duty Allowance to General Elections Staff

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday demanded the Accountant General of Pakistan (AGP) pay Extra Duty Allowance to all the employees and officers who put in overtime in the local government elections and preparatory work for general elections.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the ECP wrote a letter to the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue Islamabad to grant Extra Duty Allowance to the employees of the ECP Secretariat and other departments’ staff deputed to conduct the various activities related to the LG polls and general elections.
In the letter of the ECP to the AGP for payment of overtime charges, it is stated that in connection with work pertaining to the LG polls and various other activities related to preparatory work for General Elections from November 10, 2022, to June 30, 2023, the staff should be paid an extra allowance.
It is also stated in the letter that per day overtime charges of Rs1,000 should be paid for employees of Grade 1 to Grade 16 and Rs1,200 for officers of Grade 16 and above.
The ECP letter also said that the Extra Duty Allowance (overtime) should be paid out from within the budgetary allocation for the financial year 2022-23.
