A Pakistani mountaineer Tuesday claimed to have become the only Asian who climbed African Kilimanjaro within a day.

As soon as he set the record he took to the social media to break the news.

“Alhumdulillah, I became the only Asian and Pakistani to climb Kilimanjaro in less than 24hours. It took 20 hours to summit and return back to the gate,” the young Pakistani mountaineer tweeted with the national flag.

He reached the mountain week, according to the Pakistani Embassy in Tanzania.It added that he took the most challenging Umbwe route to summit Mount Kilimanjaro as it had a steep ascent.

The statement continued: "Approaching from the south, the Umbwe route is a short and vertical climb. After reaching Barranco camp, the trail turns west before summiting the Uhuru Peak (5895 metres) from Arrow Glacier camp. The route was also difficult as it does not provide the gradual stages for acclimatisation.”

For Asad Ali Memon, Mount Kilimanjaro is the third mountain of his Seven Summit Challenge. Last year, he successfully climbed Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas and hoisted the Pakistani flag at its top, located in Argentina.
