PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has condemned the whisking away of Sabir Mehmood Hashmi saying that his kidnapping betrays government embarrassment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a series of tweets, Maryam on Wednesday wrote: “The broad daylight abduction of Sabir Mehmood Hashmi gives credence to the fact that government is embarrassed. Is Imran Khan a sacred cow whose loot and failures could not be criticized? The entire (PML-N) party is standing beside him. The FIA should avoid becoming a tool in the hands of this sinking government.

“The responsibility of this case is assigned to Advocate Farhad Ali Shah. He has already played an effective role in providing justice to the PML-N workers. Insha'Allah he will fight Sabir Mehmood’s case with full vigor.

“Nawaz Sharif was prime minister. He was called Sicilian mafia, dacoit, thief, dengue brothers. He was called thief in the Grand Mosque of Holy Kaaba. A campaign was launched against the illness of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz. The filthiest trends were run (on social media platforms) against the women of the Sharif family. But Nawaz Sharif never registered a case against any MPA, MNA or other party workers.”

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) swung into action against the people uploading inappropriate material against Prime Minister Imran Khan, the first lady, and the federal government ministers on social media, and took five trollers including Sabir Mehmood into custody in a large scale crackdown in different central Punjab cities on Monday and Tuesday.

On the directives issued by the prime minister’s secretariat, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) prepared lists bearing names of 269 suspected trollers and handed these over to the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing which carried out raids in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and other cities and made five arrests.

14-day judicial remand for Sabir Hashmi

Court on Wednesday remanded Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) worker Sabir Hashmi in judicial custody for 14 days in the case of social media campaign against Prime Minister Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced the accused before the court which also sought challan of the case on next hearing. The FIA had arrested the accused from Lahore’s Model Town, taking his cell phone and other belongings into custody.
