Barring the returning officers (ROs) and district returning officers (DROs) from changing election symbols of the candidates, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday directed them not to do so without its prior approval, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The commission said since the printing of ballot papers had started, it might not be possible to change symbols at this stage.
In a statement, a spokesperson of the election commission said that if the change is required, permission should be sought from the election commission.
The spokesperson said change in the electoral symbol may not be possible at this point in time when the process of printing ballot papers has been started.
After much delay, the nation will at last go to polls on February 8, 2024 to elect their representatives for the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies’ seats.
