A ‘big relief’ for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) at last as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday declared the order of deciding the party’s foreign funding case within 30 days null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In its verdict on the intra-court appeal filed by the PTI, the court said it did not doubt the intentions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that it would treat the foreign funding cases of all political parties alike. “We hope the ECP will decide the cases of other parties within a reasonable time period. And we also expect the election commission to ensure transparency in the investigation,” the IHC said, adding, “The ECP has not given any ruling in PTI’s foreign funding case as yet. And spokesman for the commission has also ensured us that it will take action against political parties without any discrimination if prohibited funding was proved.”
The PTI on April 20, 2022 had filed an intra-court appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the court’s single-bench decision to announce verdict in the party’s foreign funding case within 30 days.
