Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, India, suffered a severe head injury at her home.
The 69-year-old leader reportedly slipped and hit her head on a piece of furniture, causing a significant injury to her forehead.
The All India Trinamool Congress, Banerjee’s party, shared a distressing image of her in a hospital bed, with visible bleeding from her forehead.
She was immediately rushed to Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital in Kolkata, where she received stitches for her injury. The medical team managed to stabilize her condition promptly.
Following the incident, the Trinamool Congress issued a message on social media, urging supporters to keep their leader in their prayers during this challenging time.
Sukanta Majumdar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, extended his well-wishes for Banerjee’s swift recovery.
He expressed hope that she would soon return to her political duties. Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankar, also conveyed his concern for Banerjee’s health and offered prayers for her speedy recovery.
She got three stitches on her forehead and one on her nose. Doctors did some tests like ECG and CT scan. They suggested she should stay in the hospital for monitoring, but she chose to go home. She will still be closely watched and will follow the doctors’ treatment plan.
