Alarming spike in dengue virus cases in Punjab, KP

Dengue epidemic is spreading rapidly in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces as there is a constant increase in the number of patients in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The health department said that there were 229 cases reported during the last 24 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the health department, 121 people were diagnosed with dengue in Peshawar during past 24 hours. In Lakki Marwat, dengue virus was detected in 25 patients.
According to the Islamabad district health officer, the situation was also deteriorating in the federal capital as 72 cases were reported during last 24 hours.
A total of 319 cases were reported in the province during past 24 hours, the secretary informed. He said 131 new cases were emerged in Lahore.
Nine out of 20 Dengue squad vehicles turned into the material of scrap in Town Hall, Lahore. It has become very difficult to control dengue in the city, due to the shortage of vehicles.
So far, 620 patients with dengue fever reported in different parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
