Earthquake shakes Swat and adjoining areas

A moderate earthquake jolted Swat Valley and its adjoining areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale created panic as the people came out of their homes reciting verses of the Holy Quran.
No loss of life and damage to property was reported from any part of Swat so far.
According to Islamabad-based National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the earthquake was located near Pakistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area at the depth of 83 kilometres.
It may be mentioned that on September 6 last an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude also hit the same region. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that tremors were felt in Swat and the adjoining areas.
The depth of the quake was recorded at 192 kilometres and the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan.
