A powerful earthquake jolted Islamabad and several Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities on Wednesday, forcing people out of their homes and offices reciting Holy Quran verses, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The tremors were pretty strong in Peshawar and surrounding areas.
Besides the federal capital, the quake was also felt in Mardan, Haripur, Swat, Swabi, Mohmand, Mingora, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Dir.
Chitral was also jolted by the earthquake.
According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake was measured at 5.3 on Richter Scale.
The earthquake struck at 10:13 am, with a depth of 220 kilometres and the epicenter was located in the Hindukush region of Afghanistan, a region known for frequent seismic activity.
