In order to provide world-class recreational facilities to citizens, the interim Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has given approval for the upgradation of the Lahore Zoo and Safari Park, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

New animals and birds will be brought to Lahore Zoo and Safari Park. Various species of birds and animals including Panda, hippo, rhinoceros, African pigeon, black jaguar, Puma and Chiltan Markhor (wild goat) will be added to the zoo and safari park.

As many as 142 types of marine life will be kept in the aquarium at Lahore Zoo and Safari Park.

World-class cages will be built for the animals.

African zone, desert, and salt range will be made in the Safari Park. Besides, the night safari will be started.

Citizens will also be able to stay in specially-made huts in the Safari Park.

Chief Minister Naqvi ordered to introduce e-ticketing system in Lahore Zoo and Safari Park. He said that both the animal parks will be upgraded according to international standards and also vowed to increase other facilities.

Chief Minister Naqvi presided over the meeting in which he was given a detailed briefing on the upgradation plan of Lahore Zoo and Safari Park.

Punjab Chief Secretary, Senior Member of Board of Revenue, Chairman of Planning and Development, Secretary Forests, Secretary Finance, Secretary of Construction and Communications, Secretary of P&D, DG Wildlife, and other officials attended the meeting.
