Rangoli Chandel s account suspended after Islamophobic tweet

April 17, 2020 02:10 PM

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter account has been at the centre of several controversies. Be it political or related to showbiz, Rangoli’s views have often been criticized by the twitter public.

Rangoli’s account was officially suspended by Twitter. Rangoli was spreading hate with her views on social media and the step came after a series of tweets that seemed to incite religious hatred and stoke Islamophobia.

Chandel had tweeted claiming that the family of a Tablighi Jamaat member, who died of the coronavirus infection, had attacked police and doctors, a rumour that has already been debunked by credible media organisations.

The tweets were flagged up by Bollywood jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali and filmmaker Reema Kagti.

Following the complaints, Twitter took action and suspended the verified account which had over 95,000 followers.
