IHC to hear Mohsin Beg’s plea against his arrest tomorrow

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up for hearing the petition filed by the wife of Mohsin Beg, a journalist who is currently in police’s custody, against the insertion of terrorism-related sections in the FIR registered against her husband, tomorrow (Friday, February 18, 2022), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah will hear the case.
Beg’s wife says in the petition that since a false and fabricated case was registered at Margalla police station; therefore the police be ordered to remove terrorism-related sections from it.
In another development, police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) teams raided the office of daily Jinnah and an online news agency owned by Beg in Islamabad and questioned the office staff in order to collect material, if any, against Federal Minister Murad Saeed on whose complaint the authorities swung into action against the journalist.
A large number of journalists also gathered outside the office to show solidarity with Beg.
On the other hand, medical tests of the journalist, whose body limbs bore marks of torture, were completed.
Meanwhile, condemning the raid on Beg’s house, journalists’ bodies have threatened the government with countrywide protests.
In a statement, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Raja Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi demanded that Mohsin Beg be released until inquiry into his case was completed.
