Three killed as bus crashs into restaurant after hitting tractor

Three people were killed and 12 injured in a bus-tractor collision near Gujrat Friday. The accident occurred on GT Road bypass road near Gujrat when a passenger bus collided with a tractor and then crashed into a roadside restaurant.
The bus was on its way from Lahore to Rawalpindi when it hit the tractor on a U-turn near Dhir Ke Kalan village. A fire broke out at the restaurant after the bus crashed into it.
According to rescue sources, the driver of the tractor and another person died on the spot, while one passenger of the bus succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Qadir, 55, Azhar, 30, and Sher Ali, 55. Among the twelve injured, three are women named Rukhsana, Shabina and Tahira. The other injured are Tariq, Ikram, Manoor, Muhammad Afzal, Fakhr, Ali Hasan, Junaid and Sadiq.
Rescue officials said that they dispatched nine teams, including a fire brigade, to the spot. Eyewitnesses said that the accident happened due to the high speed of the passenger bus.
