Suspended DRAP CEO fired over fake PhD

The federal government has approved the dismissal of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) CEO Sheikh Akhtar Hussain, who was suspended in March 2019 over a fake degree case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday, quoting its sources.
The government gave its approval for the removal of Sheikh Akhtar Hussain for holding a dubious doctorate degree which he used for his credentials when applied for the position of CEO of DRAP.
The sources said that ‘Dr’ Sheikh Akhtar Hussain was given an additional eight (8) marks in the interview due to his PhD degree.
Sheikh Akhtar Hussain was appointed as CEO DRAP on December 21, 2018.
The federal cabinet had appointed Asim Rauf as acting CEO of DRAP till the permanent appointment of the CEO.
Reportedly, the Ministry of National Health Services ordered inquiry into the matter and wrote to Higher Education Commission for the verification of his degree, the HEC replied that the Open International University, Colombo, is not recognised even in Sri Lanka, let alone in Pakistan.
