Organisers of the Aurat March called on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House in Karachi on Wednesday and informed him of the security threats resulting from the disinformation that was spread using the march slogans after the event.
A representative of the transgender community was also among the delegates who called on Bilawal and informed the PPP chairman of the problems facing his community. On this occasion, organisers of the Aurat March thanked the PPP chairman for his and his party’s consistent support to the Aurat March. He heard problems of the march organisers and assured them of full support of the Sindh government to those working for women’s rights. When the delegation highlighted the threats being hurled at them, Bilawal reminded them of Benazir Bhutto’s political struggle despite security threats.
Bilawal said that women’s role was vital in every walk of life. He said that vigorous voices in support of women challenged those who would not accept women’s abilities. He said he was happy that organisers of the Aurat March highlighted deprivations and problems of the women. He said it was unfortunate that some people were using blasphemy laws to target the organisers of the Aurat March.
