PPP nominates Bilawal Bhutto and Farooq Naik for judicial commission

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has proposed the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Senator Farooq H Naik as members of the Judicial Commission, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.
According to the sources well placed in the PPP, the Attorney General and the Federal Law Minister will represent the government, while the PPP seeks equal representation on the commission as per the government’s assurance.
The judicial commission is expected to include two members each from the PPP as a Treasury bench party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as an opposition.
In terms of specifics, PPP has nominated Bilawal Bhutto Zardari from the National Assembly and Senator Farooq H Naik, while Irfan Siddiqui will represent the government from the Senate.
The PTI has designated the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, along with Senator Shibli Faraz from the Senate, as its representatives in the judicial commission.
Two days ago, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq requested names from the government and opposition to establish the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, following the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
This initiative aims to restructure the judicial commission, with the Speaker reaching out to both sides for their nominees.
PTI leader Omar Ayub confirmed that his party has submitted the names of its opposition members for the commission.
