A team of manufacturers are inspecting the vehicles of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), a spokesperson said on Thursday.

The admin has suspended the service after a bus caught fire – fourth incident of its kind since the launch on August 13. Reportedly, the bus caught fire on Wednesday near Sunday Bazaar in the Hayatabad area of the city.

Rescuers put out the fire immediately and there were no casualties. The video that went viral showed plumes of thick smoke coming out of the bus. All the buses are being inspected thoroughly, the spokesman said, adding that passenger safety was its foremost priority and the decision was taken in the best public interest.

The service will resume as soon as the buses are given technical clearance by the manufacturers, the official added.
