The citizens’ vehicle data have become unsafe as data records of two motor branches of Lahore city have been found tempered, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Saturday.
The data of citizens' vehicles worth millions of rupees became unsafe due to the negligence of IT experts of Excise department. The sensitive system of motor branches started to be used by some cheaters in connivance with the Excise IT experts instead of offices.
In motor branches, DHA and Baghbanpura, the ID card numbers of dozens of vehicles were changed by using the passwords of inspectors during the night hours. The inadequate security system of the software of Motor Branches of Excise is held responsible for the tempering.
The ownership of the vehicles was changed under the guise of correcting the identity card.
The office allocates passwords only to the concerned computer and access to other systems requires permission from the IT head.
The concerned inspectors informed the Excise Director in writing about the misuse of the password, Director Nouman Khalid ordered an inquiry into the matter.
ETO Rana Khushnod has been appointed as head of the inquiry committee, while AETO Mazhar, Inspector Waseem Qadir, and Nazir Bhatti are part of the committee who will complete the inquiry within a week after auditing the record of DHA and Baghbanpura branches.
