Marked increase witnessed in country’s imports

A marked increase has been witnessed in the country’s imports from different countries in the very first month of the ongoing fiscal year (FY), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that imports from Australia rose by 603 percent in July 2023 on a year-on-year (YoY) basis as their volume stood at over $130 million, while from Iraq by 185 percent to reach over $10 million.
Similarly, they disclosed, imports from Qatar upped by 59 percent in the last month to reach over $280 million.
Likewise, imports from Iran in July 2023 stood at over $60 million after they rose by 38 percent, the sources explained.
They went on to say that imports from Vietnam reached over $10 million after an increase by 28 percent.
The sources further revealed that the country’s imports from Kenya upped by 18 percent to reach over $40 million.
Moreover, they said that imports from Japan in the first month of the current FY registered an increase by 16 percent to reach over $110 million.
Similarly, the sources disclosed, imports from Italy, the UK and the Netherlands rose by seven, four and one percent respectively.
