Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued directives to strengthen preventive measures at airports across the country to the growing concern over monkeypox (mpox), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, the CAA has instructed airport authorities to implement necessary precautions to curb the potential spread of the virus, emphasizing the importance of coordination between health departments and local authorities.

As part of the preventive measures, the CAA has mandated the availability of ambulances at all airports to ensure immediate medical response if needed.

It has also directed that any passengers suspected of carrying the virus be provided with isolation facilities.

To maintain a hygienic environment, airports are ordered to ensure regular cleaning and disinfection of all lounges and public areas, with a particular focus on using germicidal sprays.

The CAA's guidelines also include specific instructions for international flights.

Airline crews have been advised to use masks and gloves during their duties to minimize the risk of transmission.

Additionally, airports must provide sanitizers for passengers and the staff handling their luggage.

The directive further stresses the importance of thoroughly disinfecting restrooms, counters, and all luggage belonging to international travelers.
