Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi said on Wednesday that the judges and lawyers must protect the rights of litigants, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the Ghotki Bar Association, he said to the audience, “Don’t clap for the judges. They are humble people. But you make them puffed up with pride. They get complacent.”
He assured the lawyers that all their reservations would soon be addressed. “I will fulfill the commitment I have made with you.”
The CJP said that the Sindh High Court chief justice had informed him of the issues confronting the Bar.
He went on to say that Ghotki was better than several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Slain journalist’s family protest
When Justice Afridi arrived in Ghotki, family members of slain journalist Nasrullah Gadani held a protest demonstration on the National Highway, appealing to the CJP to take suo moto notice of the murder and provide them justice.
Holding placards in their hands, the protestors alleged that the police were not arresting the murderers of the journalist.
They also alleged that MNA Khalid Lund and his sons were involved in Gadani’s murder.
However, the police stopped them from getting close to the chief justice’s vehicle.
