Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Mashhood Ahmad on Sunday announced that he would challenge the election results of his constituency in the election tribunal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement issued to media, he alleged that these were the PTI-backed independent candidates who committed rigging in the February 8 general elections.
He said it was strange that soon after the elections, the PTI started raising hue and cry that they had been rigged. “But nobody takes notice of rigging in my constituency, PP-172, where it was done without any fear and with complete impunity,” Mashhood said in the statement, adding, “In my constituency, PTI-backed independent candidate Mian Azhar, in connivance with the returning officer (RO), changed the election results by declaring me a loser on Form-47 by 2,730 votes.”
When during recounting of the votes, the PML-N leader went on to say, it emerged that I had an edge over my rival, Hammad Azhar, Azhar’s son, started doing propaganda on social media and made the vote recount controversial, due to which it had to be suspended, and the Form-49 was issued.
Mashhood said he would fight till the end to get his right.
