Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs and PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Saturday said that the 26th constitutional amendment would pave the way for the country’s development, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, he said that when the coalition government took office after the ouster of the PTI government through a no-trust vote in April 2022, the country was on the verge of bankruptcy. “However, the policies the coalition government introduced saved the country from getting bankrupt,” he claimed.

Rana Sana added whenever the PML-N came to power, it had a healthy impact on the country’s economy. “The war on terrorism fought when last time PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was the country’s prime minister is another feather in the cap of the party’s government.”

“Similarly, the party’s governments eliminated loadshedding from the country and made Pakistan a nuclear power,” he said.

However, the special assistant said that unfortunately Nawaz’s government was sent home and hence the country, which was progressing, went downhill. “Not only the establishment of that time played its role in Nawaz’s ouster but also the judiciary. In this regard, former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar’s role was also unconstitutional,” he alleged.

Referring to the PTI government, Rana Sana went on to say that what followed next destroyed the country’s economy.

The PML-N stalwart expressed the hope that Justice Yahya Afridi would prove to be the best CJP.

He also dispelled the impression that the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan's wife and sisters’ release had anything to do with a ‘deal’.
