PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said government had been stanched from his party through rigging in 2018, the consequences of which were being faced by the country.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Ahsan that industries had already been shut and economy destroyed even before the coronavirus pandemic because of the PTI government’s policies.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had locked down the economy before the coronavirus pandemic, he remarked.
Ahsan said the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif had ignored the foreign pressure and conducted nuclear tests in 1998, as he announced that the PML-N would celebrate May 28 as Yaum-e-Takbeer.
Separately, another senior party leader Khawaja Asif said institutions became ineffective when the prime minister disrespected them, as he criticised the government’s attitude towards the Parliament during the National Assembly session.
Khawaja Asif said the prime minister did not bother attend the session despite the fact that he was also the health minister.
Talking to media persons in Sialkot, he said the session was convened to discuss the coronavirus pandemic but treasury benches remained focused on NAB cases and insulting the Parliament as well as using abusive language against the opposition.
The government did not make any attempt during the National Assembly session to achieve a unanimous national policy on the pandemic, said Khawaja Asif.
He said the government had no policy on the issue, adding that the coronavirus cases were on the rise in Pakistan which had not witnessed the peak yet.
The current situation is a result of lack of control on the borders and at airports, he noted.
