Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Friday urged a united front against internal and external challenges, emphasizing that Pakistan's economic stability and the well-being of its citizens should be prioritized, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking at a public meeting in Peshawar, he emphasized the need for a new direction, free from the shackles of past ideologies and aimed at addressing pressing issues.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman expressed concerns related to economic pressure, asserting that the country is grappling with global economic challenges.
He highlighted the impact of political ideologies on the failure to establish an Islamic system in the country.
"We are facing international pressure, economic challenges, and the looming threat of extremism and terrorism."
The religious leader criticized the previous government's agenda, accusing it of weakening Pakistan economically.
JUI head pointed out the positive developments in relations with neighboring countries like Iran, India, and Afghanistan. However, he also raised questions about the conspiracies affecting Pakistan's relations with Afghanistan and the interference of global powers.
He strongly condemned the actions against tribal communities, alleging oppression and discrimination.
He criticized the lack of financial support for tribal regions, stating that in the past decade, promises amounting to billions were unfulfilled.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan, free from internal strife and external pressures.
He called for a balanced approach to governance, appealing for unity, prosperity, and peace in Pakistan.
On the occasion, Muhammad Omar, a notable political figure announced to join JUI with his colleagues.
He expressed gratitude towards the Awami National Party (ANP) for consistently honoring him.
Having served as a district nazim, Muhammad Omar made a significant announcement of joining the JUI. He extended his association to include not only the Bilour family but also other companions, indicating a broader alliance within JUI.
In his address, Muhammad Omar confidently asserted that the upcoming elections in the constituency would witness a victory for JUI. Expressing his commitment to the party's ideology, he stated, "I am confident that we will secure a triumph in this constituency under the banner of JUI."
