Noted scholar Dr Zakir Naik has laid stress on unity among the Ummah to cope with the challenges confronting the Muslims around the world.

Addressing a gathering in Rawalpindi, he urged the Muslims to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

He insisted that the Muslims should shun their mutual differences so that they could fend off the problems plaguing the Ummah.

He said the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) had prophesied that there would be 72 sects.

Dr Zakir Naik cited a hadith saying the Holy Prophet (PBUH) refrained the Muslims from siding with those who create sects.

He added: “Today if we follow the Quran and Sunnah, there will be no sects.

“If you read the Holy Quran, most sects will disappear.

“Time will come when Muslims will be united, it is in the Holy Quran."

He praised the Pakistani government and the people for their hospitality during his visit to the state.

He said he could not meet many people due to a lack of time in Pakistan.

He added: “I am happy to see love in Pakistan and the support received from the Pakistan government made me feel that I am safe in Pakistan.

“It is sad that today is the last day in Pakistan.”
