Constitutional amendments: Allies assures PM of all-out support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of coalition partners on the proposed constitutional amendments.
The leaders of the allied parties were taken into confidence regarding the constitutional amendment.
A constitutional bench will be formed and its head as well as members will be approved by a special committee of the parliament, sources said, adding that the special committee will consist of members from opposition and government PMS and the speaker will also be a part of it.
The issue of appointment of chief justice is also part of the constitutional amendment and 3 or 5 judges’ names will be sent to the Prime Minister, the sources said.
The members were also briefed on the issue of military courts and they were told that not all civilians’ cases will go to military courts, the insiders said.
They added just cases of attacks on military installations and terrorism cases will be handed over to military courts.
The constitutional amendment is likely to be tabled in the House tomorrow and voting will be held on Saturday.
The meeting of the special committee of the parliament will be held at 11 am.
