Sources said that the arrested accused person was later identified as Afzal, who conducted a recce of deceased Javed Butt from the crime area to his residence.
Soon after the murder of Javed Butt, the accused fled away successfully, while OCU teams are already conducting raids on different locations for the arrest of another absconder, Arif, who is also involved in the gruesome murder of Javed Butt.It is necessary to mention here that the Organised Crime United (OCU) team of Model Town collected all the identity details of the arrested accused involved in the murder of Javed Butt. The dealer who finalised the deal was identified as Arif, who belonged to the Manga area of Pattoki. The shooter was identified as Azhar, who is a resident of Paisa Akhbar Street, Lahore.According to Model Town police, Azhar is also a neighbour of Amir Musab. Both the dealer and shooter involved in the murder of Javed Butt are now in police custody.
Two days ago, two main accused, including the shooter involved in the murder of Teefi Butt's brother-in-law, Javed Butt, during a gang war, were also arrested.
The shooter, Azhar, was apprehended by the Lahore police from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). As per the police record, Azhar, who is a known habitual offender, carried out the firing on Javed Butt. He had been conducting reconnaissance for the murder.
Police sources added that the interrogation of Azhar and his accomplice is ongoing to uncover the elements behind Javed Butt's murder.
Pertinent to mention here that the murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu, a prominent figure in Lahore's underworld and owner of a goods transport network, is not coming to an end as Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, the chief suspect in the case, was shot dead in the provincial capital on September 2, 2024.
Muhammad Javed Butt, who was a resident of Allama Iqbal Town, was targeted while sitting in his car in the Muslim Town area of Lahore, said police. The police informed that Javed Butt’s wife was injured in the attack while his daughter escaped unhurt.
It may be mentioned here that another suspect in Ameer Balaj’s murder case was also killed by the firing of his “accomplices” on August 23 last.
The CIA team was taking Ahsan Shah to Shadbagh for a recovery when Shah’s accomplices opened fire on the CIA team. Following the shooting, Shah was rushed to the hospital with injuries, but he succumbed to his wounds before reaching the hospital.
Shah was believed to be a close friend of Balaj and was accused of providing information to key suspects, including Teefi Butt, about Balaj’s presence at a wedding party in Chuhng.
In February 2024, Ameer Balaj Tipu was gunned down in what police described as a targeted attack near Thokar Niaz Beg neighbourhood.
According to police, the incident occurred during a wedding ceremony in a residential society near Thokar Niaz Beg as an armed assailant opened fire on Balaj Tipu killing him on the spot.
Balaj Tipu was the son of Arif Amir – alias Tipu Truckanwala – who was also shot dead in the parking lot of the Allama Iqbal International Airport in 2010.
