Rapist-killer of teen girl awarded death penalty by AJK court

A court in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday awarded a three-time death penalty to the rapist who murdered 13-year-old girl Kanwal Matloob after sexually assaulting her, reporter 24NewsHD TV channel.
Moeen Bashir aka Sahbo was awarded death sentence three times by the AJK Additional Sessions Court. The court also imposed a six million rupees fine on the convict.
Kanwal Matloob, a 13-year-old girl from Azad Kashmir, was found dead after she was abducted from her hometown of Kathar, Dadyal Tehsil of Mirpur.
Kanwal disappeared after she got out to get some groceries and later her body was found dumped in a garbage disposal site in a forest.
Separately, on Monday, a local court in Islamabad awarded two counts of death sentence to three accused for raping and brutally murdering an 11-year-old girl in Bari Imam area in the federal capital.
Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar of the Gender-Based Violence Court delivered the 23-page judgment in the case - which started in December 2020 - a year and a half later.
