LHC Multan Bench upholds life imprisonment sentence of rapist

Lahore High Court Multan Bench, upholding the judgment of trial court, has dismissed the appeal of rapist and maintained life imprisonment sentence of the culprit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

LHC Judges Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Amjad Rafiq announced the judgment after dismissing the appeal of rapist Abdul Basit on Friday.

According to the judgment, the prosecution team succeeded in proving their case therefore crime committed by the convict cannot be labelled as innocent act.

Court further said, according to the evidence, the rapist, who had also been involved in robbery and criminal cases, wanted to marry the victim girl since childhood. The convict first made relations with the mother of the victim girl and then trapped the girl after giving her drugs and made video of rape scene with her to blackmail her in future.

Moreover, the culprit repeatedly hurled threats to the girl of leaking her videos and repeatedly abused the victim. The victim girl was taken to Nishtar Hospital by the family where the girl told parents about details of rapes and video of the rapist.

The medical report also confirmed that the victim girl was raped therefore the trial court gave the rapist life imprisonment sentence besides fine. LHC judges said that keeping in mind the proves provided by the prosecution team, Court rejected the appeal of the rapist and upheld his life imprisonment sentence.
