Floodwater causes destruction in Rojhan, Jampur

Although the fresh spell of monsoon rains, which had affected large parts of the country is over, still fears of flood are not as residents of Safdarabad, on the outskirts of Rojhan in south Punjab, were forced from their homes after floodwater entered their homes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per eyewitnesses’ accounts, the height of floodwater was over six feet on Monday.
The residents said that when they were facing great difficulties in shifting to safe places, how they could take their cattle with them.
They complained that nobody from the administration had reached there as yet to rescue them.
They said their homes had been washed away and they had lost all their belongings, but the administration was least bothered about their predicament.
Road link severed in Jampur due to flood
The situation was no different in Jampur where floodwater washed away a road, leaving people cut off from each other.
On the other hand, it appeared that the administration had surrendered as residents of the area, who were without food and fodder for their animals, had to move to safe places on their own.
Water level normal in River Ravi in Narowal
In Narowal, in north-eastern Punjab, water levels are normal in River Ravi as well as in nullahs.
The water level in the river at Jasarr on Monday dropped from 45,000 cusecs to 6,602 cusecs.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza said that the administration was fully prepared to deal with any situation. “We have set up four temporary rescue camps on the bank of the river,” he informed.
Over 10 villages inundated in Mohenjo Daro
More than 10 villages were flooded after water from the River Indus spilled over into katcha area in Mohenjo Daro, forcing the residents to move to safe places on boats.
Road links in Dadu severed after downpours
Similarly in Johi tehsil of district Dadu, several villages were cut off from each other after streams and nullahs burst their banks following heavy rains in the area, thus confining people to their homes.
20-foot wide breach appears in Uch Canal
Likewise, water moved fast towards nearby localities after a 20-foot-wide breach appeared in Uch Canal in Suhbatpur.
More rains predicted
On the other hand, the Met Office forecast urban flooding in different parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as a monsoon low continued to produce rains in both these provinces as well as in other parts of the country.
The Met Office said that more rains, accompanied by strong winds, were expected in north-east Punjab, Potohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 24 hours, north Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours.
