Supreme Court of Pakistan has been moved seeking removal of Sharia Court judge Khadim Hussain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday by Advocate Asad Naveed Bhatti who contended that Judge Khadim Hussain's term of office is completed in March 2024 and on March 19, 2024, Judge Khadim Hussain was given a one-year extension but he continued his work without taking oath after seeking one-year extension.

The petitioner claimed that judge Khadim Hussain was working as a judge illegally. Therefore he requested the SC to remove judge from his post immediately.

The federal government and Judge Khadim Hussain have been made parties in the petition. The applicant claimed that according to Article 203, the appointment of judges in Sharia court is for 3 years and President of Pakistan can also grant an extension to the judge of the Federal Sharia Court.
