Students turned sweepers at Jhelum primary school

Students at a primary school in Jhelum were turned into sweepers and made to clean the whole building while their headmasters kept smoking cigarette after cigarette, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday, quoting sources.
The headmaster, Ashraf, handed the students brooms instead of books at a government primary school in the Deewanpur area of Jhelum.
The pictures of the students cleaning the school and of the headmaster smoking cigarettes went viral on social media.
On January 28 last, students at Government Girls High Schools in District Qambar of Sindh had been also victims of the Education Department’s negligence as they were forced not to untie their bags and instead clean the whole school building.
The school headmistress had defended her action saying a lady sweeper had been appointed one and half month ago but she never turned up for duty.
Nobody responsible was around as the girl students used brooms to clean their classrooms and spruce up other sections of the school.
The headmistress had further divulged that they had filed complaints to DO Education a number of times but all were fell on deaf ears.
The parents of the students had complained that the girls were ordered to clean their classroom as soon as they entered the school which hurt their education.
