Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has proposed that at least 50 per cent of patients should be treated at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) free of cost, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He was speaking to the participants of a review meeting regarding modern and free treatment facilities for the poor people held here at PKLI on Sunday.
He further said that special attention should be given to renewing the system of free treatment of poor people in PKLI.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the hepatitis prevention and treatment program established by PKLI needs to be taken under the supervision of PKLI immediately.
He also directed the formation of a special fund and emphasized the need to allocate a specific amount in this regard immediately.
Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on the occasion that the provincial government is utilizing all its available resources for the provision of free and modern healthcare facilities to the masses.
He assured the prime minister that following his instruction, immediate steps will be taken to accommodate poor patients in the PKLRI.
