With the activation of the government's health cards from January 01,  2022, private hospitals have succeeded to earn more than Rs101 million in just 18 days in the Lahore division alone.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, during the same period, the government hospitals have facilitated the health cardholders with Rs19 million only.

The health department has issued its report of the first 18 days which described that a total of 5,712 patients have been treated on the card in the last 18 days in the Lahore Division.

As per the health department’s report, a total of 1,460 patients were treated in government hospitals while 4,252 patients were treated in private hospitals.

During the same period, Rs2 million was spent on 114 eye surgeries in government hospitals and Rs8 million on 189 operations in private hospitals.

According to the report, 84 per cent of the people in private hospitals got free treatment on health card and around 450 angioplasty patients were treated at a cost of Rs46 million there.

The private hospitals have demanded their expenses of the treated medical cases on the health card.

The report said that the government will soon reimburse the private hospitals’ expenses through the State Life Insurance Company.
