The situation is tense outside Zaman Park, Lahore as police have blocked all roads leading to the area following the intelligence of terrorists’ presence in and around the residence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s residence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Police have blocked all kinds of traffic on Mall Road Underpass, Canal Road Dharam Pura, Thandi Sarak, and Davis Road.

The police have blocked these roads to stop the flight of terrorists holed up in the area.

The Punjab police is sending a delegation led by Lahore Commissioner Ch Muhammad Ali Randhawa to Zaman Park amid the presence of media today to search Imran Khan’s house, after seeking permission from the PTI chairman.

Talking to a private TV channel yesterday, Punjab interim Information Minister Amir Mir said that police had arrested 8 terrorists holed up in Zaman Park. He said that they were trying to flee the area.

He further said that they were being interrogated to gain information about what was happening inside and who was in there.

After a passage of 10 days, PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday condemned the attack on Army installations, saying that his party had got “no conflict” with the establishment.

His condemnation came after President Dr Arif Alvi in a TV interview said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan should openly condemn the May 9 events in which public properties and military installations including Corpse Commander House in Lahore and ISI office were attacked.

The president — a close aide to the PTI chief — called for taking action against the miscreants involved in the events.

The violent protests were triggered after Khan's arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case which led to the deaths of at least 10 people and injured several others, prompting the authorities to arrest thousands of PTI workers.

AI condemns civilians’ trials in military courts

Meanwhile, the Amnesty International South Asia denounced the trials of civilian protesters in military courts, saying that it’s a violation of international law.

In a tweet, the Amnesty International wrote: “Using military courts to try civilians is a clear violation of international law. There are several provisions under ordinary criminal laws that can be used to prosecute vandalism and destruction of public property. The right to a fair trial, guaranteed by Pakistan’s constitution, is severely undermined by this move and cannot be justified. It must be struck down immediately.”
