CEC chairs poll preparations meeting in Quetta

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja presided over a meeting in Quetta to review preparations for general elections.
The meeting mulled over measures to ensure the holding of free, fair and transparent elections, including the posting of apolitical persons, meritorious transfers and quick response to complaints.
Balochistan has 5,284, 594 registered voters, the provincial election commission told the meeting. He added that 5,067 polling stations will be established. He said 2,068 polling stations are declared sensitive and 2038 highly sensitive in the province.
The provincial police chief told the meeting that a security plan was prepared. The Quick Response Force will be on alert to avert any untoward incident, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief election commissioner said all resources should be used to conduct peaceful election as transparent polls is an important national responsibility.
He told the meeting that negligence on the part of staff won’t be tolerated. In the process of polling, the appointment of staff regardless of political affiliation should be ensured in all respects, he stressed, adding if there is any complaint from the staff, immediate action will be taken.
