The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) on Monday identified the unlawful release of Rs440 billion in supplementary grants in the financial year 2020-21 without approval from the National Assembly during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the report of the AGP, an amount of Rs440 billion was released in supplementary grants in the financial year 2020-21, which the finance ministry did not disclose in documents.
“The finance ministry had assured to disclose supplementary grants worth Rs440 billion during the current financial year,” the report said.
“The finance ministry’s answer is insufficient. The release of Rs440 billion supplementary grants should be investigated,” the report added.
“According to the Supreme Court decision, the supplementary grant report must be submitted to the National Assembly in the financial year,” it pointed out.
The AGP recommended investigating the matter and improving financial affairs, and he also recommended the approval of a supplementary grant from the National Assembly as per rules.
