Although intermittent monsoon rain lashing Lahore and its suburbs since morning turned the weather pleasant but also created lots of hardships for the people, especially for the motorists, bringing life almost to a standstill at some places, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Due to accumulation of rainwater on the roads, lawyers and litigants could not reach courts on time.

Besides that the rain turned low-lying areas of the city into pools of water, which made it hard for motorists and pedestrians to pass through.

Children could not reach their schools on time, while same was the situation with the people going to their offices.

Following heavy rainfall, over 100 feeders tripped in the city, suspending power supply to several localities.

The LESCO officials said faults would be fixed as soon as the rain stopped.

Persistent rain forced the authorities to put WASA and other departments on high alert

Minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the maximum temperature was expected to reach 31 degrees Celsius later in the afternoon.

The air quality index (AQI) was, however, better as it stood at 73.

Downpours have also been reported from Nowshera Virkan, Okara, Deepalpur, Nankana Sahib, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Pattoki, Sahiwal, Mianwali, Kamonki, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Pasrur and other parts of Punjab.

It was 27.5 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the maximum temperature was likely to fluctuate between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level in the air was recorded at 74 per cent.
