Today is the last day of technical-level talks between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while the policy-level talks between the two sides will begin tomorrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources in the Ministry of Finance told 24News TV channel that success of the IMF ‘review’ programme would depend upon the success of the policy-level talks.

Meanwhile, data is being exchanged between Pakistan and the IMF at the technical-level talks currently underway.

Sources further disclosed that the Fund had conveyed this to Pakistan in clear and unambiguous terms that if it wanted the talks to succeed, it would have to meet all the conditions.

They added the government, on the other hand, had assured the visitors that the country would meet all their demands.

It had already, sources revealed, agreed to increase gas and electricity rates.

Furthermore, preparations for the announcement of ‘mini budget’ were complete since the government believed that tough decisions needed to be taken if the country’s economy was to be resurrected, they told 24News.
