Dense fog engulfs Punjab plains

Dense fog continued to blanket most plain areas of Punjab and disrupted routine life in upper parts of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country and a strong westerly wave is likely to enter in Pakistan on Sunday and likely to grip upper parts of the country on Monday, the Met office predicted.

In Narowal, Arifwala, and Saraialamgir, Nankana visibility became zero disrupting the traffic flow on New Lahore-Muridkay and in and around Kartarpur and suburbs, the TV channel reported.

The Met Office predicted that cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, on Saturday (today) while very cold in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Dense fog is likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh. Frost is likely to occur in a few plain areas of Punjab during morning hours.

In the past 24 hours weather remained cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very cold in north Balochistan, northern areas, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Saturday’s Lowest Minimum Temperature (°C): Leh -15, Astore -12, Gupis, Skardu -11, Ziarat -10, Kalam -09, Hunza, Kalat, Quetta -08, Bagrote -07, Gilgit, Srinagar and Anantnag -06.

Earlier, National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) said Sargodha’s M-2 has now been closed including four interchange Kot Momin Interchange, Salim Interchange, Bhera Interchange and Makhdoom Interchange.
