Peshawar Bar mulling returning donation cheque back to PTI

Dismayed at the disruption of peace witnessed during the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) long march on Islamabad on May 25, 2022, Peshawar Bar is considering handing donation cheque back to the party, which the latter had given to it apparently to enlist its support for the march, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The lawyers, associated with the Bar, have criticized the PTI for what they allege attacking policemen and the personnel of other law-enforcement agencies.
It is reminded here that the Lahore High Court Bar Association had assured former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan of its support following his address to members of the Bar prior to the start of the march.
And after returning from his first march without holding a sit-in in the federal capital, he approached the Supreme Court in order to seek its permission for yet another march by the party.
This was despite the fact that he has admitted recently that the reason why he had to ask his party workers to go home rather than holding a sit-in was that he knew some of the marchers possessed weapons, and their prolonged presence in the Red Zone could have led to bloodshed.
